Fobbing Pubs : The White Lion pub in Fobbing near Stanford-Le-Hope 'This 17th century pub in the centre of Fobbing, has 18th century extensions that incorporate beams from the old Thames sailing barges. It serves three real ales and food is available at lunchtime only. A true village pub with a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome for all that visit' Report
Hull Pubs : The Empress pub in Hull 'We popped into this typical town pub, with its very impressive frontage, for lunch on our visit to Hull. The food was enjoyable but nothing special and the only ‘real ale’ available was John Smiths. A jukebox provided the music. Not a bad pub for a quick pint and a spot of lunch. ' Report
Hedon Pubs : Haven Arms pub in Hedon near Hull 'Out on the edge of town in peaceful setting. Almost 200 years old, at the junction of several footpaths. Loads of parking space and no through traffic - delightful. Tables out in front of the pub and a covered patio area at the back. Bar has lots of nooks and crannies with pool, darts and TV. Four well kept cask ales and the usual lagers etc.
Restaurant does cabaret at most weekends and food is served from 12 noon to 9pm, every day.Sunday's is a carvery with a choice of 5 roast meats & fresh vegetables. This is a pub for all the family - a real jewel. ' Report
South Ockendon Pubs : Prince Of Wales pub in South Ockendon 'What a disappointment! I use to drink in this pub over 40 years ago and it now desperately needs refurbishing – I noticed two broken windows on my visit. Gone is the beer garden at the rear. The only outside seating is now at the front of the pub by the roadside. They have stopped serving food and there is no real ale, so I will not be going back.' Report
Whalton Pubs : Beresford Arms pub in Whalton near Morpeth 'What a wonderful experience! We stayed overnight and were very impressed by the accommodation and facilities. Two well-kept cask ales were on offer at the bar, Old Speckled Hen & Black Sheep Bitter, with a selection of wines and the usual lagers etc. The evening meal was well presented and with generous helpings, was a delight to eat. All the staff made us very welcome, so much so, that we will definitely return. ' Report
