Loughborough Pubs : The Beacon Inn pub in Loughborough 'Great pub. 2 main rooms - one geared around sport, the other for a quiet relaxing pint (although there is live music on a Saturday). 2 large beer gardens for summer. The Beacon is the best pub I have ever visited.' Report
Loughborough Pubs : The Griffin Inn pub in Loughborough 'Decent pub, packed full at weekends before people go to clubs. Also good for sporting occasions.' Report
Loughborough Pubs : The Orange Tree pub in Loughborough ''Trendy' pub/bar. Actually quite nice and not too pretentious. Some drinks are a bit pricey, which I suppose may deter students. Also very good (expensive) food. Well worth a visit. ' Report
Loughborough Pubs : Moon and Bell pub in Loughborough 'One of the Wetherspoons monopoly. Really good pub though. The patrons are a strange mix of students and pensioners, drinking in harmony. Great for breakfast.' Report
Loughborough Pubs : The Newshouse pub in Loughborough 'Uber-trendy (actually, maybe faux-trendy) bar in the centre of Loughborough. Bar staff are all models. The bar is annoyingly situated in the centre of the pub ('Cheers' style), which makes the surrounding area desperately cramped. Still, a definite stop-off on a night out, if only for the famous Dr Pepper. And a perve.' Report
Loughborough Pubs : The Phantom pub in Loughborough 'A 'Scream' pub and very much a student dominated place. Good for football on Saturday afternoons. Drinks are reasonably cheap (especially if you can get a yellow card) and the food is good. Pound a pint on Sunday nights (although it does get ridiculously full). Good pub. ' Report
Loughborough Pubs : Hobgoblin pub in Loughborough 'Quite a small, confused pub. Half studenty and half elderly. Worth a quick visit. Unless you like drinking liquid death, don't touch the 'Hobgoblin' beer.' Report
Loughborough Pubs : The Gallery pub in Loughborough 'Fantastic place to watch the big England football matches - brilliant atmosphere. Other than that slightly disappointing. Best looking pub in Loughborough from the outside.' Report
Loughborough Pubs : The Barley Mow pub in Loughborough 'Unfortunately the Barley Mow has now closed. Tragic.' Report
Loughborough Pubs : The Amber Room pub in Loughborough 'A Lloyds pub, one of the Wetherspoons trendier spin off's. Therefore cheap (and good) food and drinks. Classily furnished and decorated with ample room for a busy Saturday night. There's still something not quite right about it though....' Report
Loughborough Pubs : Bar Europa pub in Loughborough 'The sign outside proclaims: 'The only bar that you can dance on the tables!'. Obviously a real bonus. Not strictly true anyway, as you can dance on the pool table at Matt's Bar (now the Blue Banana) next door. I guess a pool table can still be classed as a table. Couldn't it? Strange place, but worth a visit. Seems to be well populated with kids though.' Report
Southwold Pubs : The Lord Nelson pub in Southwold 'Lovely seaside pub - plenty of charm and comfort. Nice log fire.' Report
Loughborough Pubs : Barracuda Bar pub in Loughborough 'No longer Barracuda - now Varsity (yet another one).
Comfortable, carefully styled, devoid of character and ultimately depressing.' Report
Loughborough Pubs : The Unicorn pub in Loughborough 'Not a great pub. I loved it when I was about 17, which kind of sums it up (I was an idiot then). It's changed quite a bit over the years, but when I have been more recently the clientele seem to be the same calibre of person. Has the pokiest beer 'garden' on earth.' Report
Loughborough Pubs : The Custard Bar pub in Loughborough 'Decent bar but far too small for the amount of people who seem to frequent it. They are associated with Rain and sometimes have nights when the whole place turns into a ultra-compact club. It's all a bit weird, really.
Literally the smallest blokes toilet I've ever seen. ' Report
Loughborough Pubs : Hayleys Bar pub in Loughborough 'Hilarious place. Used to be the 'legendary' Matt's Bar, then turned into the Blue Banana for about 3 hours until yet another re-branding into Hayley's (surely Blue Banana was better?).
Very much an establishment for youngsters; most of the drinkers seem to be actual foetuses. I'm sure I've seen umbilical cords trailing behind some of them as they climb onto the pool table for a quick dance.
Not the cleanest of places, I once inadvertantly stole one of their stools after it stuck to my backside. The woman behind the bar is also the embodiment of many of my nightmares.
Weirdly I am drawn to this hell hole every time I go out. Perhaps they wipe it all over with the pheremones they sell in the (stinking) toilet.
Worth a visit for a unique experience.' Report
