Mansfield Pubs : Railway Inn pub in Mansfield 'A friendly, traditional, local type town pub. Serves real ale. Sadly under threat of demolition due to town redevelopment.' Report
Mansfield Pubs : The Pheasant Inn pub in Mansfield 'A clean, well-kept, cozy pub. Tends to be rather smoky, hence I have not tried the food.' Report
Mansfield Pubs : Widecombe Fair pub in Mansfield 'Scruffy, couldn't-care-less, commercialised dump. Neither a good pub nor good cafe.' Report
Mansfield Pubs : The Kings Arms pub in Mansfield 'Small, rough, friendly pub. Well-kept beer.' Report
Pleasley Pubs : Hardwick Inn pub in Pleasley near Mansfield 'Chocolate-box pretty setting, with large lawns & outdoor seating. The building is historic, the inside is old fasioned, with open fires & oak beams. There are numerous small cozy rooms in which people can eat, as well as a large, airy carvery (for which you must book!). The food is of good quality & service is quick (if slightly shambolic). Bar service is good & a large selection of malt & blended whiskeys are on sale. The only complaint (for which I deducted 1 point) is the astronomical price of drinks!' Report
Sutton-In-Ashfield Pubs : The Oval Inn pub in Sutton-In-Ashfield 'A dreadful, dreadful pub in the centre of a dreary housing estate. Bursting with unruly children on a Friday night (when we visited) So-so keg beer. Karaoke too! 7 year olds screeching along to Britney Arghhhhhhh!' Report
Sutton-In-Ashfield Pubs : The Maypole pub in Sutton-In-Ashfield 'Unbelievably sad, depressing place. It looks and is uninviting. You have use the place for 25 years before the regulars will speak to you. There is a pleasant beer garden with tables etc which gets solid if the sun ever shines on a weekend. The beer is well kept however.' Report
Huthwaite Pubs : The Miners Arms pub in Huthwaite near Sutton-In-Ashfield 'Pleasant, friendly rural pub in a pleasant setting. Has strong emphasis on food, for which it has a good reputation. Well kept beer.' Report
Sutton-In-Ashfield Pubs : The King & Miller pub in Sutton-In-Ashfield 'Purpose-built pub cum cafe. Pleasant enough surroundings & delicious real ale (Hardy Hansons 'Old Trip' Mild etc) kept in tip-top condition, expect muzak, one-armed bandits, music channel TV (with sound off??) laminated menu's with pictures of the meals on. (in case you dont know what microwaved pie & frozen chips look like). Sound familiar?' Report
Mansfield Pubs : The Bridge Tavern pub in Mansfield 'A lovely comfortable, cozy pub. Almost out of place in a town. Seems to have got the balance just right. Good beer too! Well worth a visit.' Report
Skegby Pubs : The Fox & Crown pub in Skegby near Sutton-In-Ashfield 'A well positioned pub with a good car park. At time of writing is getting ready for a refurb. Superb beers with a selection of well kept real ales. Better than average pub food. Good, busy atmosphere in the week. Ruined at the weekend by crowds of foul mouthed, low-life football fans, shouting belching & swearing. Best avoided if you are with family or your wife.' Report
Mansfield Pubs : The Cuckoo Birch pub in Mansfield 'This could rank as one of the most dreadful pubs anywhere! No atmosphere, no customers, totally forgettable beer.... zzzzzzzz' Report
