Beoley Pubs : Hollybush Inn pub in Beoley near Redditch 'I went to the Hollybush on my birthday after having sampled the meals before and enjoying the food. This time I dont know if the chef was new or having an off day but the halibut (beautiful fish) was tough and dry as if it had been warmed up after being cooked. The worst fish I have ever tasted. the soup was tasteless. We gave up in the end and came home. too late to book elsewhere so ended up with ready meals from Tescos. We will not be coming back. The two point is for the beer. One of the finest Theakstons my husband has drunk. (We are not in the habit of sending meals back and will only do it in the most extreme of cases as in this one)' Report
Kempsey Pubs : Walter De Cantelupe Inn pub in Kempsey near Worcester 'We found this pub on the internet and used it after attending a wedding at the local church. Certainly not a fast food place and if you want to hurry your meal do not go. We had a very relaxing time there. Went in at midday and left about 3pm. The food was excellent as was the real ales on tap(Dorothy Goodbodys, Timothy Taylor, Kings Shilling) Martin the landlord was a convivial host. We even had a starter altered. (Local Asparagus served with butter and crusty bread but we thought a poached egg on top would set it off just right) Nothing too much trouble. The Barnsley Chop was cooked to perfection as was the other main courses. The apple crumble my husband was served was 90% fruit (not the other way round as in most pub food) Coffee served with hand made shortbread set the meal off a treat. A good selection of whiskies to aid the digestion to finish the meal off a treat.
The pub clientele are mainly mature, quiet but enjoy good hospitality, good food and good company.

Beoley Pubs : The Village Inn pub in Beoley near Redditch 'I made the mistake of celebrating my 50th birthday here. The food we got was ok but well overpriced for the standard. Scallops as a starter for £6 - ONLY 3 ON THE PLATE surrounded by greenery NOT EVEN A SLICE OF BREAD TO MOP THE JUICE UP. The pate came without any butter on the plate with the toast. The red onions were nice. MAIN MEAL - and you have to pay EXTRA for any vegetables. BEWARE The price you pay for is what is described. I cannot believe you do not get vegetables as a norm. The barnsley chop couldnt have been any thinner you could almost read through it. The wine was warm when it came. It had to be rechilled. The Sea Bream was on the limit to being overcooked. We normally go the whole hog when we go out and stay for dessert coffees after dinner drinks etc. We left after the main meal. As it was my 50th I didnt want to make a fuss. I wanted to enjoy the rest of the day But really wished I had. THANKS A LOT ' Report
