Yatton Pubs : Railway Inn pub in Yatton near Bristol
'This was the pub I was "brought up in". I saw it go through many transformations. The most recent was an extensive redesign including many structural changes which made a large, warm and inviting place with a large, friendly, loyal group of customers. I recently revisited the pub after a few years absence and could not believe the level of squalor that has been reached. It appears no one has maintained, cleaned or even changed a light bulb since it was first redecorated. There are large areas of wall where pictures/machines have been removed and large holes and faded wallpaper left. There are remnants of many past years Christmas decorations. Even patches where wallpaper has been torn off the wall. For a large pub it was woefully quiet. The pool table that used to have a long queue of 50p pieces on is now covered and pushed against the wall. I understand many people refuse to drink draught lager there now due to poor levels of cleanliness. All-in-all a very disappointing revisit to a once thriving local.'
