Luton Pubs : The Heights pub in Luton
'Great pub. Large and airy. Big bouncers present on Fri/Sat. Younger crowd.'
Report

Luton Pubs : The Two Brewers pub in Luton
'Pleasant enough small pub, just off Luton town centre. Seems to be more of a locals pub, rather than a shooter quaffing establishment.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Metro pub in Lancaster
'Food in restaurant is of a high quality, though portions could be a little bigger for the money! Be wary of Friday and Saturday nights, food can take a little while to be served. One night I went it was very slow, although this was recognised by the staff and we got a free bottle of wine as compensation. The bar downstairs is quite upmarket for Lancaster.'
Report

Luton Pubs : Yates Wine Lodge pub in Luton
'Fairly typical Yates' place, cheap food and drink.'
Report

'Small place, but worthy of a vist. Nice staff, but a little out of the way of the centre of town. Near some tower blocks.'

'Very old pub, lovely features, can be busy and crowded on a Fri/Sat night. A locals favourite.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Merchants pub in Lancaster
'I would say that this is certainly a unique pub both on the outside and in. Original features, zero natural sunlight, and pleasant people inside.'
Report

Aldcliffe Lance Pubs : The Waterwitch pub in Aldcliffe Lance near Lancaster
'Great pub, always seems 'special' when you're there. Upstairs there is a kitchen that cooks good food, though the inside 'restaurant' seating upstairs is cramped. '
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Revolution pub in Lancaster
'Watch out for the bar staff that deliver shots to your table - I've got caught out a couple of times on a weeknight - ooops.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Royal Hotel pub in Lancaster
'An odd mix of styles, decor and clientele. It's good, I enjoyed going there, but something doesn't 'gel' in terms of the presentation of it all.'
Report

Colyton Pubs : The Gerrard Arms pub in Colyton
'I beg to differ! Around 50,000 visitors look at my site in an average month. This is increasing as more and more kind people review and rate the pubs on here. If you want it to be busier, then please mention my site to your friendies. ;-)'
Report

Keighley Pubs : The Red Pig pub in Keighley
'I went in here yonks ago. Was great then (as far as I can remember), real ale sorta place and original features everywhere.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Varsity pub in Lancaster
'Went here on a Wednesday, and they allow you in for a £1, and then 'selected' drinks are a £1 each. This looks popular with students. When I wondered about the £1 entry fee the 'collector' person at the door was quite condescending as I didn't already know this. Shame my tipple, a guiness, was not a 'selected' drink and still £2.50 - quite expensive with the addition of the entry fee. A pub for the younger people, oriented towards students I would say - though the pub is often very quiet when they do not have drinks promotions on or no one wants bland student type grub. I have to say though, that the internal structure of the pub, on 3 floors, is excellent and a lot more could be made of the place.'
Report

Eastbourne Pubs : Crown pub in Eastbourne
'This pub has now reopened and under new management - I have been told that it also sells the cheapest Harveys in the area!'
Report

Abbey Hey Pubs : The Abbey Hey pub in Abbey Hey near Manchester
'etst'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Bobbin pub in Lancaster
'Good pub near Sainsburys. Music is more alternative than folk I'd say. Do other members on this site think that Erin deserves a Lancaster barperson of the month award (October) from Pub Utopia? From my point of view (the better side of the bar) she always works hard and has a smile for you. If attractiveness was also part of Customer Service then she would of course score extra points! Click on the 'staff award' button (on the left) to nominate Erin.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Rileys pub in Lancaster
'Good place if you're really into pool, but a shame that the pool tables were 2nd hand when the place opened. The bar is open and airy, and the guiness I had was fine. The place seems to suffer a bit from local kids running around inside - if there is an 18+ rule here, it is certainly not inforced.'
Report

Glasgow Pubs : The Gairdners Airms pub in Glasgow
'As of 11-11-04 we hear that this pub may be closing down due to licensing problems. If it definately does close, please let us know by clicking the 'this pub is no longer a pub' link on the website.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Brown Cow Inn pub in Lancaster
'I like this pub and have been in it a few times, the staff are always friendly and serve well. My only complaint about this place, and it really does let the place down loads in my opinion, is the inability of the staff to control the volume of the music. It's often set to VERY LOUD even if the place is half empty. OK, on weekends it may draw in the punters, but on a Monday night for goodness sake? (with about 12-15 people in there trying to have a conversation?). This evening I left half a pint (I know - what a sinner) just to be able to talk to someone sitting a half metre away from me! On top of all this, the jukebox was playing the 'Ticket to ride' by the Carpenters! Not so sweet a melody at a gazillion decibels I can assure you.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Walkabout pub in Lancaster
'Simply appalling. Mostly empty until the weekends, and then it gets rammed with young drunks. Food awful and consists of Australian themed dried up offerings. It is the only place in the last few years that has served me an off pint of Guiness and the bar person simply refused to acknowledge it and admitted that 'I wouldn't know an off Guiness if I tasted it!' (surely, anyone would?). Avoid like the plague.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : George & Dragon pub in Lancaster
'Under new management. Sue and Karen are now your friendly hosts.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Sun Hotel & Bar pub in Lancaster
'For those of you that wished this pub was a little bigger - you wish has now been granted. There is now a lounge area to the right of the bar (as you walk in). It's seems not quite finished, but it is still a very pleasant and less smoky drinking area.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Three Mariners pub in Lancaster
'Recently refurbished.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Borough of Lancaster pub in Lancaster
'Apparently this pub is now up for grabs on a lease basis.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Wagon & Horses pub in Lancaster
'I'm very sorry to say that the landlord, Dave, is leaving the Wagon. I spent last night in the pub, and it really was a great night, both for the regulars and guests. The end of an era ... but watch out for the leaving 'celebrations' next weekend. Cheers Dave - you'll be sorely missed. ;-)'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Stonewell Tavern pub in Lancaster
'Paddy Mulligans will be changing its name to The Stonewell Tavern. It re-opens on the 19th of August (2005). I hear that the pub will no longer be irish themed and it will still be a 'smoking allowed' establishment.'
Report

Shipton Gorge Pubs : The New Inn pub in Shipton Gorge near Bridport
'The New Inn at Shipton Gorge closed on October 2nd 2005. Like many small rural pubs the New Inn had been struggling to make ends meet for some time and the owners, Palmers Brewery, decided that the pub was no longer viable. The villagers, however had decided otherwise. They believed that with certain refurbishments and the right licensees, the pub could thrive. A meeting in December endorsed an approach to Palmer’s Brewery to lease the pub from them and The New Inn Support Group was formed to lead the joint efforts of the Parish Council and the Village Society to re-open the pub. The chairman of the "New Inn support group" (David Smith) can be contacted on 01308 898219.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Wagon & Horses pub in Lancaster
'On the Sunday the 11th of September 2005, the Wagon and Horses are having a charity day in aid of Lancasters Macmillan Unit. PubUtopia is please to lend it's support to this event by publicising it via it's website. Breakfast will be served from 10-12pm and from 3pm food (donated by the french restaurant 'Quite Simply French') will be up for sale. They have a late licence, raffles and auctions on the day. The DJ 'Rob the Gob' will be performing ... who can forget his last visit when he set fire to some of his hair near his 'personal areas' (thats the best way I can put it without being to rude). Some ale and bottled beer will be on sale on the cheap, and all staff are working for free on the day. Please support this event if you can.'
Report

Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Pub pub in Lancaster
'Went into this 'bikers pub' last week, bit quiet, but new proprietors are going for it and punters I met very friendly.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : George & Dragon pub in Lancaster
'The George and Dragon is still closed, but something is happening inside .... the front windows are covered with newspaper so you can't see in, but you can hear sounds of some kind of refurbishment going on - though I'm not sure how extensive it will be. Rumours are abound in the local area as to the new owner(s), and what kind of place it will turn out to be. If anyone knows any more reliable details, please email me (my email address can be found on the 'help page') Cheers!'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : George & Dragon pub in Lancaster
'The new 'owner' of the G&D has got in touch with us and here's what they say we can expect: - farmhouse pine tables - a deep clean of the place - they plan to maintain the real ales, 5 hand pulls. - a selection of continental beers - and eventually a quality yet 'quirky' food offering. Word on the Quay is that they are opening on Friday 7th of July ... but this has not yet been confirmed to us by the pub 'owner'. '
Report

Lancaster Pubs : George & Dragon pub in Lancaster
'The George has now reopened - 5 cask ales, and a good clean has ensued. The dark tables have been replaced with lighter ones and the floorboards at the front have been sanded down - this all gives a much lighter and fresh look to the pub. Nightlights on the tables are a nice touch too.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Wagon & Horses pub in Lancaster
'The Wagon & Horses have started a new Wednesday night 'Quayside Acoustics' evening. It will kick off with Billy-Jo (from 'Hair of the Dog') on Wednesday the 20th of September. Complimentary Tapas will be there for your enjoyment. '
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Three Mariners pub in Lancaster
'In my humble opinion this is a GREAT pub. The food is excellent and good value for what you get and the beer is excellent (and you nearly always get a choice of 6 varied ales!). The bar is small though, so I can understand why people sitting or standing at it could be annoying to others on the odd occasion - but overall, a must-visit pub.'
