High Bickington Pubs : The Old George Inn pub in High Bickington near Umberleigh 'excellent 16th century village pub with a friendly landlord who knows his real ales and his wife who is a brilliant cook. We had two excellent meals in our weeks holiday including sunday lunch, fabulous!!
Very friendly locals, wife joined in the pickled onion competion, talk about HOT!!!

Brayford Pubs : The Poltimore Arms pub in Brayford near South Molton 'Unbeatable pub food with a wide range of dishes freshly cooked using local meat and fish. the last mouthful tastes as good as the first!!. Delicate use of herbs and spices produce food as good as any 5* hotel. Quick pleasant service both sides of the bar with excellent beers. Over 50 meals served on the night of our visit so booking is recommended. This 13th century pub has flagstones, bare tables and lighting provided by a generator so it is pleasantly different. A genuine pub which is well worth visiting. See you there(wish it was back home in Cardiff so I could visit more often)' Report

East Down Pubs : The Pyne Arms pub in East Down near Barnstaple 'This pub was excellent 10/10 about 4 years ago then lost its chef and went downhill as far as food concerned and landlord appeared to lose interest.
Changed hands in 2005 and on our only visit just after was quite good, always and interesting village pub with lively locals. WE will visit again this year and expect it to be even better. I will not rate it then.' Report
Chulmleigh Pubs : The Old Court House pub in Chulmleigh 'visited this pub lunchtime, like going back in time. Friendly landlady, nothing too much trouble. interesting locals, good fresh cooked food and enjoyable beer. open fire in a very old pub, I like it.

Lee Pubs : The Grampus Inn pub in Lee near Ilfracombe 'excellent pub with interesting landlord!!. good beers and tasty varied food. good shady garden. opening hours during the day variable according whether the landlord wants to go fishing! Live music and the go-kart race . Lee is an interesting village with a good beach only at low tide' Report

Abergavenny Pubs : Skirrid Mountain Inn pub in Abergavenny '
Oldest pub in Wales and possibly oldest in Britain, built before 1100. Courthouse upstairs where 180 poor souls were sentenced to death and hanged on a beam on the stairs over the centuries. Plenty of ghosts in this place !! Medieval doors and windows, flagstone floors, roaring log fires with a ledge to leave a drink for the devil. Cobble stones outside and a stone steps used by kings and princes to mount their horses excellent food and beers with atmosphere !! goodd pub for walkers.' Report

Challacombe Pubs : Black Venus inn pub in Challacombe near Barnstaple '12 months ago Mark and Liz took over, with 25 years experience and the help of their children have made this excellent 16th century pubwell worth a visit.
Very best home cooked meals, snack with good local real ales.
Original beams and fireplaces make an enjoyable meal or drink.

Enjoyed sunday lunch especially at the price of £5.50. Quick and pleasant service in a happy pub.

Instow Pubs : The Bar pub in Instow near Bideford 'Now refitted and called THE BAR. Some evidence of long delays with food on the couple of occasions I have used this pub, including very loud complaints !!!' Report

Very highly recommended. 5 draught beers in this village pub, staff have right attitude,knowledgable friendly and quick service. Homemade food was excellent and good value. Excellent 17th century pub with large conservatory and beer garden. Just off main road up a side road and no signposting (unable to erect signs) so use mapping to find it, well worth it!! Wish it was closer to home, 100 miles :((' Report
