Thornton-Cleveleys Pubs : The Bay Horse Hotel pub in Thornton-Cleveleys
'Having lived in Thornton for the past four years I visited the Bay Horse Hotel regularly for meals and a generally ambient atmosthere, over the past eighteen months to two years the pub has gone into general decline I put this down to poor management. The pub is situated in an excellent position with a fairly large catchment area for local clientel plus in the summer months a brisk Holiday trade.The Bay Horse benifits from no competition as the nearest pub is over a mile away in any direction, however having visited the pub on numerous ocasions around 8.00 to 8.30pm with my wife and family looking to have a few drinks and bar meals and been informed that the pub has stopped serving food and that the chef has gone home, I feel quite appalled, as less than two years ago the pub retaurant used to be packed every night and especially over the weekend you would struggle to get a table. I have spoken with the manager which is a term I apply very loosely and he showed a total disinterest and went back to consuming is drink hense I do not frequent the pub any more as it now has no atmosthere and unless you are their before 7.30pmish you stand no chance of getting any food. The refurbishment is all well and good but I think the real answer would be a refurbished management team.'
